LCFS

Also called Low Carbon Fuel Standard

California's program, adopted in 2009, that requires fuel suppliers to cut the average carbon intensity of their fuels each year, with tradeable credits for fuels below the benchmark. Amendments effective 1 July 2025 cap crop-oil credits at 20 percent of each company's volume and bar palm-derived fuels.
