Fossil fuel comparator

Also called fossil baseline

The fixed emissions value for the fossil fuel being replaced, against which savings are measured. The EU RED uses 94 g CO₂e/MJ for transport fuels; the 2009 RED used 83.8 g, CORSIA uses 89 g for jet fuel, and the RED uses 183 g per megajoule of electricity for power generation.
